T/C Encore Newbie questions
« on: December 08, 2004, 04:37:49 AM »
OK, I did it.  I have a new Encore pistol version, SS with black grips, on order.
I shoot handguns, for whitetail hunting, due to some shotgun/pistol/muzzleloader only
regs for the area where I hunt.  I currently shoot a .308 WIn. chambered Savage
Striker, with a 2x7 Burris scope.  My brother picked up a used Encore, in .308 Win,
changed out the rifle stock, for a pistol grip, and used it to down a nice buck this
year.  This got me thinking that maybe I should switch to the Encore, for pistol
shooting, and this also gives me the option of buying a few rifle barrels, to try out
a few new chamberings, like the .204 Ruger, and such.  I have a pretty good battery of
other rifles, but it can get costly when I get these urges for a new caliber
I think the T/C Encore might hep with this problem.  Anyway, I have a couple
of questions about the Encore.

First, can the trigger be adjusted easily, or does it require some machine work,
by a gunsmith?

Does anyone make a thumbhole synthetic stock for the Encore?

How easy is it to remove fixed sights from a pistol barrel, and replace them
with scope mounts?  Any suggestions on good scope mounts?

Any other suggestions for a newbie T/C Encore shooter?

Thanks in advance for any info you may provide.

Trigger work:  Someone here who has done it might be able to provide a link, but some time and a few springs should get you up and running.

Sight Removal:  Very easy, to screws out, off sight, remove scope holes slave screws drop on base.  Weavers are the cheapest with decent quality but if your serious then its bayonet style rings, not quick detach, that you want.

Thumbhole stock: Ive seen wood and I believe there are laminates out there too.  As for straight synthetic I cant say Ive seen em.

Other suggestions: Get a lock for your wallet or youll be spending money on bbls quicker than you can put the money IN the wallet   .

Welcome and enjoy the great site.
