Taurus problem resolved
« on: December 06, 2004, 10:20:14 AM »
Some time back I posted that I was having problems with my 450 UL misfiring. I disassembled and reassembled the gun several times trying to work out the problem. I finally figured out the problem. Seems when the trigger was pulled back the armature that locks the cylinder was hanging up in its slot in the frame. This allowed centrifical force to allow the cylinder to over rotate out of alignment.  A little polishing here and there and 100 rounds later everthing locks up every time and not a single misfire. Another 400 rounds and I'll feel comfortable carrying this gun. The reason I bought it. Saves me the shipping to Taurus who probably would have fired a few rounds and sent it back saying they couldn't find a problem.
Just another worthless opinion!!

That's one thing I could say about a Taurus. A little home improvement on them and they will work great. My old Taurus 80 .38Spl shoots like a champ now that I filed down the forcing cone a little to create enough gap that it would not drag the cylinder when it got dirty. The thing shoots just like a great Model 10 Smith now.
