CZ 527 7.62x39 Questions
« on: November 20, 2004, 10:08:51 PM »
Hello,
This is my first post on this site.  I am very interested in getting a 527 in 7.62x39, and have several questions.  First, what kinds of ammo have owners been shooting thru their rifles?  How does the military stuff function as compared to the domestic brands?  How about extra parts ie additional magizines, are they easily obtained?  For my last question, I wanted to know what a good price range is?  A local Cabelas has this model for $489.99.  Thanks for your replys.

I bought one about a yr. ago.  I ordered an extra mag at the time.  This one happens to like Wolf 154 grn. soft points.  One inch groups at 100 yds.  It defys logic as to why it is so accurate.  The bedding is atrocious.  Mine was lost to my youngest daughter.   I called CZ-USA and they sent a scratch and dent stock at a reasonable price.   Cut down and refinished and without any bedding work the accuracy remained.  My handloads are not quite as good but still acceptable for the intended purpose.  The only complaints  I have is the safey works backwards from what seems logical to me, and the magazine is not the most aesthetically pleasing protrusion I have seen.  She has no problem with it.

Welcome to Graybeards, Mr.Niceguy.
Gander Mountain was asking $488. The parts and magazines are available direct from CZ-USA, but the mags are NOT cheap. You can look them up on the website.

Can't help with ammo, mine is a .223. Use the Search feature on this site, and you will find some older posts about it.

Can't help you with factory ammo - I fired a couple of boxes through it to break in the barrel and then it's been nothing but cast for it since then. But it is a heck of a shooter with cast bullets, holding MOA easy for five shots. Don't know about mags, but you seem to have found a very reasonable price for it. I gave $459 for mine about two years ago, I think J&G lists them for that now but you have to pay postage and such. And yes, the bedding is terrible - I've got it in the shop now waiting on time to make some pillars and epoxy bed it. Going to make a single shot follower for it as well, if it works well we'll put it in the inventory and have them for sale.

Thanks for the replys, and I sure hope to get one before the year is up.  The sights are another reason I like this rifle, seem well made.  I do wish CZ made a model with an internal fixed magizine as I too think the protruding magizine is some what an eye sore.  How do you fellas like the single set trigger?  I don't mind the safety, reminds me of cocking a revovler in a way.
Have a safe and happy Thanks Giving

I don't have any problems with the looks of the magazine, if I did I would not have bought the rifle. The set trigger is the best feature of this gun, and is very user friendly. (read adjustable). Must not be any lawyers left in the Check Republic. Them commies did have their good points.
