Best loads would do 2 MOA most of the time. Likes? Light and handy. Easy to suppress. (SRT Arms and John's Guns) Great whitetail rifle for Eastern woods hunting.  Dislikes? Trigger. (Easily fixed with a Timney sear) Not terribly accurate. Rotary magazine too short for most bullets. Crappy bedding and hard to bed properly. How's that for a rundown?

sss;

Had one of those 77/44 several years ago. All I could get in the accuracy dept. was about 3 to 4 inches at 100yds. Also you can't mount a small power scope on it without buying the extenison rings. I did not keep it long, I bet I did not have it six months. It was very dissapointing. I've got a H&R Ultra with a 44mag barrel on it. After a good bit of reloading I found a great cast bullet load and a great jacketed bullet load.
Just my two cents but I would save my money or get a Marlin or H&R.
Good Luck.

I have one and with 240 gr Hornady XTP's I get just under an inch at 50 yards!  This is about what I expected.

I have a Weaver 2.5X on mine!  It came out of my 870 shotgun mount and it works fine!  I didn't have to get extension rings for it!

It is a fine rifle for its intended use.  It is a woods deer rifle.  It is light, fast handling and quite lethal on deer.  I don't know why they are generally 3-4" guns.  I would think better accuracy is possible even though 3-4" is plenty accurate for deer.  Despite my best efforts I can't consistently do better.  Just yesterday I noticed the stock on mine is cracked just aft of the forward lug screw.  I guess I'll contact Ruger about it.  Overall, it is typical Ruger.  Pretty good, but leaves you scratching your head as to why something on it isn't better than it is.
