Stevens Model 311 double barrell 12 gauge

a friend hunting down at my hunting camp gave me a model 311 side by side double barrel shotgun, cracked stock with one sliver of walnut next to reciever missing and no butt plate,gun is really tight,fair forearm...what should i do.....??? repair stock???/ buy new matching stock and forarm????....anyone have these 2 items for sale???? is the gun worth repairing.......i think and hope so---thanks for all replies---

For sure send the pieces to me and I'll give it a good home!  If you insist on being unreasonable and keeping it you can get new wood, maybe factory or have stockmaker turn you a new one.  I had Fajen make a new one for my old 20 ga 311 years ago and it gets better with age.  The factory 311 stock was too small for me so they carved the new one with more length.  They use the old one as a pattern just like they do when making new spare keys.  Fitting the new wood was fun and rewarding.  I reblued the barrel at the same time.  It still looks good.  Good luck!!!

I often repair these.  they tended to break if the stock got a bit loose and wasn't tightened.  The slive can usually be replaced with it being hard to see.  A new stock is another possibility.  These are decent old guns and well worth repairing.

Re: 311 Stevens.  I have my late dad's Springfield-Stevens dbl. barrel hammerless 12 gauge (vintage +- 1935).  Does anyone know if this was the prewar Stevens 311 and if so is it worth anything???  I would rate it a 90% condition.
