Took the savage 110 that I bought from Wally World out for it's first test firing. It's a Savage 110FPX, .270, black synthetic stock with 3X9 Simmons scope.
I left the gun as it was straight out of the box. The only thing I did before firing it was to wipe the outside down with an oily rag, and run 2 dry patches through the bore. I was tempted to adjust the "lawyer" trigger, but wanted to see what it would do right out of the box.
Started at 30 yards, fired a shot and adjusted the scope....out of the box, 6 inches right and 3 inches low. It took three rounds to have the scope where I wanted it at 30 yards. Trigger pull sucked. I'm not sure how heavy the trigger is, but a squeeze wouldn't do it, and it felt like I had to jerk it.
Fired 3 rounds five minutes apart, Winchester silvertip 130 grain , for a 2" group but with 2 holes side by side. Fired 3 more the same way, 3/4" group. Then another 3 round group that measured 5/8".
I then switched to 150gn remington corelots. Same point of impact, and less than an inch.
This with standard factory non premium ammo......I think it did pretty darn good.
The gun felt good to me, didn't really notice any recoil, and I'm happy with it. I've spent way more and gotten less. NOW, REMINGTON, RUGER, and WINCHESTER, TAKE NOTE.....YOU BETTER STEP IT UP A NOTCH, BECAUSE AT TWICE TO THREE TIMES THE COST, YOU HAD BETTER MAKE
EM SHOOT 1/2".
