Marlin Camp Carbine 9
« on: March 15, 2004, 08:06:45 AM »
I was just at the Marlin web site and noticed that these aren't being listed any longer. What I'm interested in is what magazines these guns take. If I remember correctly, they share the same magazine type as another firearm but I can't remember what one.  :?

They haven't made them for a while.  I'd have to look in my Bluebook at home to give you exact years.  IIRC they use Smith & Wesson 59 series magazines.  (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm going from memory)

On mine, the magazine well is synthetic but the stuff the Ramline mags were made of. It seems indestructable and overall, the gun is in mint condition. I always thought these were nice little blasters, sort of like my SKS. Does anyone know what Weaver base fits this gun? The Carbine was produced after the last cross reference I have for the Weaver bases. I guess Numrich will get the surpluss parts. Feedback is welcome.

Does the scope rail made for the 336 by Weaver fit these?
What about value? I've seen them on auction sites starting at $300.

I don't know about the scope rails.  I don't own one to look and tell you, sorry.

The values that I have in my Blue Book (last years edition):

Last MRSP of $443.00
100% - $340
98% - $230
95% - $170
90% - $150
80% - $140
70% - $130
60% - $125

These prices seem low to me.  I haven't seen any in my area going for less than $400 used.  They seem to be a "favorite" gun of many and fairly hard to find.  I'd like to have one, they look like fun!

Hope this helps!

I just bought one at the local Gander Mountain for $220 in excelent condition. It came with two 15 round and two 10 round magazines. The guy had to have over $50 invested in the mags alone. The thing looks like the day it was made. Got a winter storm brewing today so it might be a few days until i get out to shoot it. Thanks SBF.

Sounds like you stole it!  I need to find me one for that price.

BTW - The storm hit us about 1 pm, we got about 4-5 inches here (west of Cleveland)  They cancelled most schools this morning so my wife (a teacher) was happy.

Have fun with it!

Actually, a work buddy gave me a heads up about Gander Mountain and their used gun pricing policy. He bought a Ruger laminated 77 in 243 for $275. I seen, with my own eyes, two Winchesters that someone roughed up with emory cloth for Cowboy Action. The Trapper was a 45 colt, the rifle was a 44 Mag. Both went on the rack for $150 apiece. Needless to say, they were gone the next day after I priced some bead blasting and powder coating. I go there often and put money down on anything that looks good.

According to my Marlin book. the scope base screw spacing is the same as the 336. And yes, S&W 59 series mags work.
