ford is buying my truck back!
« on: October 28, 2004, 08:27:42 PM »
  I have a f-350 four door diesel lariet truck with a serious 4wd problem. When i use the shift on the fly it sounds like the front end might blow up from all the grinding and vibration. After replacing many many 4wd parts including the transfer case ford has agreed to buy the truck back from me.  I am very happy. A 40 thousand dollar 2 wheel drive truck is not my idea of a good deal.
We hope to find a good used Excursion diesel now.

Wow!  Looks like you bought one of the F(ix) O(or) R(repair) D(daily) trucks on the lot.  I'm glad you won, because I had a lemon (transmission and rear end) problem with a Chrysler product several years ago.  Purchased brand new and had to sell it 6 months later for a loss.  Never went back to Chrysler.

My local dealer was more than helpfull when i turned in my paper work for the lemon law. I know the dealership did everything they could. I never got mad at them and i am posotive that is why i got the help i did. I wrote a letter with my concerns and thanked everyone involved. The big issue was the safety aspect of switching into a 4x4 that may or may not come apart.  I will get my money in a week or two.
By the way, we have found an excursion down in washington state. I will buy it next week. Fords are still my favorite, just not the one i have now.

A friend had the frontend on his Ford 3/4 T come off on Hwy 101.  After a nasty fight Ford sent a check to the dealership for him.  The dealership tried to screw him over.  But the "Sales Manager" after a very verbal discussion reluctantly gave him the check.  I suspect the Sales Manager gave up the check to keep from getting his butt kicked.

He went to a neighboring town and purchased a new Ford Truck.  He has been very happy with it.  His biggest problem was getting the check from dealership #1.  I have heard compliants about that dealership before.

Ford will pay off my truck within two weeks. The funny thing is my equity in the truck comes back to me of course but ford sends the check to the dealer i purchased the truck from. I guess as a las ditch effort to keep a customer and his money. I have already made a deal on a 2001 diesel excursion. I dont anticipate any trouble getting my money back. They have been very helpful up to this point.

I have a 03 F-250, 4x4, Crew Cab.  I have had turbo problems with the truck two times.  Both times I was pulling my 38 foot Montana 5th wheel.  The first time (at about 6000 miles) I was about half way between Ft Stockton and Alpine TX.  It popped and quit.  There is nothing out there, cell phones don't even work.  That was on Thursday, the day before Thanksgiving.  I made into a camp ground in Alpine and had it trucked (Ford paid for it)  back to Ft Stockton (eighty  miles) which was the closest Ford dealer.  Four hours and I was back on the road.  No problem for a little over a year.  This past May, 29 while on a fishing trip to Port Aransas Tx I was about 29 miles north of Corpus Cristi when it popped and looked like the whole world was on fire.  Blew the inter-cooler on the turbo.  A wrecker pulled me into a RV park near Mathias Tx, and pulled the truck to Corpus, eight days later I got it back.  Course Ford paid for all the towing and for a rent car for me.  I towed the trailer to virginia in Sept and had no problems, it has almost 20,000 since the last break down.

Talking to the service manager at the Ford dealership in Corpus I was told the trucks built between sept 02 and may 03 used an old style turbo, it was upgraded on later models and they are having no problems with them.  I like the truck, good fuel economy 13.8 miles to a gallon towing, it has a good ride and is comfortable.  I plan to trade for an 05 model sometime in the near future for the increased towing capability and larger brakes.

PS I did get to go fishing, caught several Yellow Fin Tuna,  two Amber Jack, several good messes of Red Snapper, and several shark.
