Got him this weekend after no luck with the deer. He was 120 lbs undressed. Shot him with a 338 win mag, 225 gr Winchester accubond at about 35 meters. I recovered the bullet and it performed flawlessly- perfect mushroom. First hog I've ever taken, and right now one of his hams and a shoulder is sitting in a smoker in my backyard.

Im shocked a 338 winchester using 225 gr bullets did not penetrate a 125 lb hog? that goes to show you how tough they can beive only had 4 guns pentrate a hog 45-70 375 H&H mag and a 308 using 150 gr power points other than that the bullet woul stop on the offside skin

Here's the bullet.

Like I said this is my first pig and ,at the time, I didn't know about shot placement so I went for the standard behind-the-shoulder shot it went through his chest and stopped in his opposite upper leg. That's where I recovered the bullet. Everyone back at camp was hounding me about shooting him there, saying I only got away with that shot because it was a 338. Oh well, either way he went down.
