Has anybody heard very much about this round?  Kimber is announcing that they'll be chambering rifles for it, and they've even specified which bullets will be available in factory loads, but I haven't seen anything about it on Winchester's site.  Apparently, Winchester has decided to go with the 8mm bullet for a bigger bore in the WSM line, rather than .338 or .358.  I have to admit, I'm surprised.

I think its a great idea.

Would love to see Remington bring out a .323 RSAUM for there Model Seven.

It would be a very balanced cartridge with a 150 gr. Bonded Core-Lokt for deer.  A medium 195 gr. and a heavy 220 gr. for the larger stuff.

Not likely to happen as the RSAUM line is all but dead and forgotten.  Blow taps over this line as the fat lady has left the building.  Lawdog

Big mistake, in my opinion. The 8mm anything has never caught on in this country. Bullet selection is also very limited.

I think the 338WSM would have made them a fortune. The 325WSM is going to be an orphan before the first factory rifle hits the shelves.

But thats just me, I think the 204 Ruger is worthless too. Time will tell.

I sort of agree-a 338 would no doubt sell better.  However, I'm one of those weird guys that loves the "orphans," namely, 6.5mm, 8mm, and 35 caliber rifles.  I'd buy an 8mm WSM just as quick as a .338".  Bullet selection is more than wide enough to load up for anything one might wish to do with a medium bore rifle.  Also, there's a chance that Winchester just wanted to see if there's a market for a little different flavor these days.  Everyone that wants a magnum 338 already has one, but the 8mm is something different, for the average shooter.
