Tried out my new RB .454
« on: October 21, 2004, 10:09:57 AM »
Tried out the new RB .454 this morning at the range.  First shot some hot loads that I loaded for my Contender in .45LC.  Shot well, recoil less than my TC.  Then went to Winchester 260gr Factory .454 loads.  Less recoil than my TC .35 Remington.  About comparable to my 30-30 contender loads in the recoil dept.  But one thing I did notice, my hands stung afterwards for a few minutes.  The best way to describe it is, take a fence post and slam it into the side of a barn.  The same type shock wave was transmitted to my hands after firing the .454 loads.  Recoil was not that much different than the .45LC.  Think I'll take it with me for Moose Next week.  At .50 yards I was hitting a one liter soda bottle.  That's close enough for a Moose at that range.  Rog

To me the Raging Bull in .454 seems less recoil than my 12" contender in .35 Rem.  Shock to the hands, but no twist to the wrist.
