BAR dinging brass when ejects
« on: August 08, 2004, 09:46:27 AM »
My 30-06 BAR is dinging the very tip of the case neck when it ejects the cases.  I's like the very tip of the case neck is hitting something on the way out.

I've been working up loads with verious powders and charges and it doesn't matter what powder or charge is being used.  Does it on about 90% of the cases fired.

Any ideas on what could be causing this and how to fix it?

Thanks

Welcome to the world of auto loaders. If you reload just resize them and forget it. I've seen many self loaders ding the neck.

LOL...thanks Dave.....I think?  This is my first auto-loader (not counting .22LR) and so far I'm really enjoying it.

At first, after switching to semi-auto the main thing I was worried about was accuracy.  What with everyone on the face of the earth saying that semi-autos wern't as accurate as bolts.  Well...my BAR is consistently shooting sub MOA with Sierra Game Kings so that's definitely one less thing to worry about.

It's not dinging them much and running them through the sizing die takes care of it with no prob.  I'll keep an eye on it and as long as she keeps slinging them without jamming, I wont' worry about it too much.

Thanks

Hello:  I found this link on BAR's and there is a troubleshooting guide at the end of the article , have a look there - it talks about brass dents even.

And by the way , I have a BAR in .300 Win MAg , it's great!

Regards ,
Bob
