Call me a fruit cake, but I've got centerfire rifles by Sako, Weatherby, WInchester, Remington, and Tikka, and I love them ALL......They all play their own role and handle and shoot their own way, and they are all great..... :grin:

Isn't it great to be a rifle fan and not a brand-name fan? The reality is that there are a lot of different makes and models, and most have proved their worth in one way or another, or they wouldn't still be around. Having something by any name that fills the bill for your own purposes is the real joy in sporting arms. Well said, Tom! Happy shooting... 8)

I think that's a great thing to have so much variety.  I personally would never buy the same gun in more than one chambering, and if possible I try to avoid getting too many of 1 brand (I've got 2 Ruger guns.  Other than that no repeat manufacturers). It's just boring to have all the same types.

Ok, your a fruitcake   :)  :)  Tom your my kind of gun affectionado.   I have had quite a few brands and have kind of settled on the Sako and Tikka rifles.  But . . . . there is always tomorrow to see something else that strikes my fancy.

As you know, "to each his own". Well, I'm a little different. I have four M70 Winchesters. Same action but different configurations for different purposes.
Got the "Classic Super Grade " in 270 Win. for well you know.....everyone needs one of these!
Got the "Classic Stainless" in 7mm Rem. Mag for hunting out west and in inclement weather.
Got the "Featherweight" because it is chambered in 6.5X55.

Number four is a bit special! Back in 1992-1995 I had an FFL. During that time Winchester built 2000 Whitetail Carbines chambered to .243 Win, .257 Roberts, 7mm-08 Rem and .308 Win. Matte black metal with synthetic stocks and 20" barrels. These were non-cataloged rifles, so the general public never knew they were available. I purchased one for myself and one for a friend. These are the only two that I have ever run into. Never saw one on any dealers shelves. Mine is in .243 Win. and is an excellent rifle for smaller stands and has accounted for many, many sub M.O.A groups. The darn thing shoots most 95-100g bullets with nearly the same level of accuracy.

There are also some single-shots, but I'll save them for a later time!

Hey, life's too short to be tied down to only brand. Unless one brand just seems to fit the bill in all instances. For you it doesn't, and it doesn't for me either. I have always told my boys, "You don't have to pay an extra hundred dollars for someone's brand name. Besides, you put a big gouge or ding in the stock, and it will hurt allot less on a birch stock then it will on a nice walnut stock." If you like a certain brand, and always buy new, fine. But if you buy used like allot of us, you can find some really great shooting rifles at some good prices from all the different manufacturers.
So if that makes us fruitcakes, your one, I'm one, so are my boys, and so are alot of other people I have helped out over the years.  :D

I'm pretty much stuck on the Sako brand--because I've been through them all and there is nothing better-------I have been eyeing a Kimber 84M Montana ----because they are soooooooo lightweight.

A lot of my variety comes from military weapons because it doesn't take a lot of cash to pick up a decent milsurp rifle----well mostly----as I just dropped $1000 on a slightly used DSA 58(not sure the exact model yet---since I've haven't completely researched their catalog) yesterday.

I just knew DSA was the best FAL available---so didn't gulp too much when I bought this one.

You know what the old saying is...."Variety is the Spice of Life"...and there certianly isn't anything wierd about owning several different makes of anything.....but if you insist............ :wink:

Couldn't have said it better. I have a 35 yr old Savage 110 in .270 that I will pass along to my son (though he has already laid claim to it so I guess that is a moot point by now), couple Remingtons, Winchester, Ruger, Tikka, and they all have something that I wanted at the time I picked them up. Do I have a favorite, you bet....Remington Sendero in 300 WM that was an absolute tack driver out of box with anything I loaded. I would hate to think I will limit myself to one brand. Be like saying I will only shoot one type or brand of bullet. I agree it gives you a bigger selection for the next gotta have rifle....

Tominboise :  You are as sane as any one and dont let no one tell you different, half of the fun in life is owning and trying out different guns, I have been playing with them for over 40 years and still havent setteled with just (one) brand, like you have several in various calibers and I guess I will have to continue doing as I have until I am called home then the bvoys will have to decide which brand they want out ofg the bunch, well come to think of it I guess I am a fruitcake also. :-D  :D    JIM
