SAUER model 202.....range report
« on: September 03, 2004, 03:06:03 PM »
Not too long ago I picked up a gorgeous blonde..............Sauer 202 bolt action rifle in .270 Win.  8) I decided to top her with a Weaver 4.5X14 GrandSlam.

I finally got all my reloading components together, loaded several rounds, picked up my BR buddy LongWinters, and headed for the range this AM.

I am eccstatic over the overall quality of the Weaver(by the way)

Here are the results: all with Nosler 130gr Partitions....OAL= 3.357"

IMR 4350  55.0 gr   1.00" MOA
RL 22        57.0 gr   1.25  MOA
RL 22        58.0 gr   0.88  MOA
H 4831      59.5 gr   0.60  MOA
H 4831      60.0 gr   0.50  MOA

Needless to say I am very happy with the initial results. The H 4831 60 gr load is pushing over 3,200 FPS and is as hot as I probably will go although there were no adverse pressure signs.
This gun is top notch in all areas. I would never spend the new price of over $2000 but GM blew these out because of the pending price increase of the Euro over the dollar. There are still a few left in northern Wisc Gander MT stores. I paid $999 minus $650 trade in of a Wby 30.06 Mark V in SS.
Interesting observation. Although the overall group diameters varied....all shots went to the same initial point of impact, just below dead center bullseye.

Anyone else out there have experience with Sauers?
