with factory 150 corelok my best 3 shot group was 3/4. loaded up some loads with blc2,cci200lr primers,150 remington coreloks, 51.0 first 2 i heard the firing pin hit then it fired,1 time with 52.0. first 3 with 53.0 1.285. after that not good at all.do i need magnum primers?

I'm no expert on this subject, but I wouldn't think that you need magnum primers because factory loads don't use magnum primers so then why should you when you handload?

I don't think it's the gun either, because, like you said, it fires just fine with factory loads.  Heck, come to think of it, with .75" groups, how much more improvement do you want in a hunting rifle?  Your expectations are starting to sound like mine.   :)

It sounds like something else is wrong, but I don't know what.  I'm sure some of our members will have some suggestions.

Its rare but not unheard of to get a bad batch of primers...Or your powder could have gotten a slight bit damp...I would check on both of these...You really dont need mag primers for a load that low

i loaded up some varget with the same primers and worked great, i might not have had the primers seated all the way in,and blc2 is just not good for big calibers.

My first thought was not seating the primers deep enough.
