A group of Texas horse man rode all the way from Texas to Calgary Stamped Rodeo.
A distance of 4000km (2500 miles). they started out in mid January and got  to Calgary on July 8/04. Man what a ride they had to do a least 15 miles a day every day. When they got here they all got the Calgary Stampede white Stetson hat and a heros welcome. Fred M.

I don't suppose Blair Burk or Roy Cooper was up there. They are from around here in Durant Okla. Burke has Roy's old ranch just to the north a few miles from here. Both are very good ropers.   Digger

Ditchdigger,
The Calgary Stampede attracts the best Cowboys from every where.
The big price is $50000 in all the various events. Today in bull riding, only one contestant stayed on a bull. They got the meanest bulls you ever want to see. One is called "Outlaw" he has only once been ridden sofar that was in the finals last year. They save him for the finals who ever stays on him for 8 seconds pretty well wins the jack pot?

I don't think the riders from Texas compete  in the rodeo. There are cowboys here from Oklahoma. Fred M.

Fred Roy was the national champ for a few years, but I heard  that drugs are about to do him in. I see Blair Burke at the truck stop and his truck and trailer has somekind of champion ship wrote all over it. They are both ropers.   Digger

I have been wanting to attend that Rodeo for the past 20 years. I have a close friend whose family is still in Galgary, and he has given me free meals, free stay, free everything. If I just get off my duff and make the trip.
At my age, just getting off the old duff can sometimes be chore, but that is one event I have promised my self, before it all must end.

Wish I was up there with you right now Fred M. Maybe next year.??

Mike Johnson oklahoma wins the calf roping in 7.9 sec for $50000.

Cody Demere Co wins the bare back and $67000

Brian Fields from Texas wins the steer wrestling in 3.8 sec for $50000

Three out of the four finalists of the bull riding got bucked off.
Jeff Bowern of Alberta won the bull ride with a 90 and $50000
No one stayed on the bull "Outlaw" threw the rider on the first jump out of the gate, what a meen monster.

Hugh Sinclare won the Ranch Land Derby Chuck wagon race and $50000.

Welll that is it for another Calgay Stampede Rodeo now back to the dandy
