Taurus PT22 Grip and Feeding Problems
« on: July 02, 2004, 11:23:02 AM »
I recently purchased a Pearl handle Taurus PT22 and the very first time out one of the grips cracked.  It also jammed several times failing to feed the round into the breech.  Has anyone else had this problem??

Had one for awhile and it was a dependable little pistol. Polished the feed ramp on mine with Dremel tool and a little jeweler's rouge. Never had a fail to feed after that. I polish all my semi feed ramps that way, whether they need it or not. Don't take any metal, just give it a good shine.

My PT 22 choked and spit a sputtered the first time out and I thought maybe it just wasn't going to be any good.  After reading a lot of advice, I decided to go ahead and try some different brands of ammo.  I didn't have to try too hard, because as soon as I gave the little jewel a mag full of Federal Lightnings, it not only functioned perfectly, but it is surprisingly accurate.  As a matter of fact, if the gun wasn't double action only, I think it would be amazingly accurate for such a short barrel.

Now I don't mean to imply that Federal Lightnings are the best thing going, but they worked for me and that was as far as I went with it.  This is not a gun that I shoot very often.  I just use it for a pocket pistol and as soon as I was satisfied with its reliability and accuracy...

Yellow Rose, I hope you have as easy a fix as I found.  Sorry about the pearl grip--bummer.
