wrong caliber custom

i just picked up a rifle at a local gunshow Beauitiful  , a 98 mauser as smooth as glass  , timney tigger,  glass bedded,  well figured wood wide beaver-tail forearm,  26 inch heavy contoured (not a bull barrel) barrel redfield bases and rings, fits me like a glove, on the barrel is stamped 25-06 but for the kicker, it won't chamber 25-06   shells which is probably a good thing because the barrel is 22 cal (i know this because i slugged the barrel) and i believe it may be chambered for 22-250 or at least a short action cartridge Now i'm not dumb enough to ram in a 22-250 and drop the hammer. If it is a 22-250 fine i'll just sell it because i've all ready got one, what i wanted was a 25-06, mainly as a wolf/coyote gun, well i guess i'm just venting if anyone out there has an idea or comment, or had a similar experience let me know.

If you want to know what cal. it really is take it to a gun smith and have a chamber cast made. Also, there is nothing worng with haveing 2 guns with the same cal. I would also group it, it may shot better than the one you`ve got.   You may deside to keep it and sell the .22-250 you have.
