Color in the pan
« on: June 09, 2004, 06:26:19 PM »
Just got home last sunday after a two weeks of pan sampling in CO.and Wy.

Had a little ice in the coffee pot and about two inches of snow sagging the tent roof down in my face during the night. I spent one week in the Flat top wilderness in the Rutt national Forest ln Co.
I packed in about four miles to a stream I found while on a Elk hunt last fall that looked good when I filled the water cans for camp.

I found a good pocket under a small water fall that made the pan shine, and made me dance a small jig for joy.
I'm going back when there is less snow run off and the fall trickles. It will be a good place.
There are no motorised vehicles allowed in the wilderness and at 10,500 feet not many people walk in that far over dead fall.

Spent time some time in the Medicine Bow Nat Forest WY.but those streams are closed to prospecting until july because of the fish hatch.

From there I checked out the Sweet Water,It,it's worth going back to.

I think this sprospecting is fun. It's just as much fun looking then finding.
