I have a Tikka Whitetail Hunter in 270 caliber and my question is other then the one stop shopping reciever which I understand is a long action receiver would that same action/barrel fit a stock that I have for the Tikka Whitetail Hunter and also why do they call it light, where did they save the weight vs the Whitetail Hunter.

Why I ask is I have a beautiful Richards Microfit stock for a Tikka Whiteail Hunter long action that I'm not during anything with and I would go ahead an purchase a T3 if it would fit.

It's been a while since we have chatted. How you been?

You ask a very good question. The barrels are essentially the same thickness, which is conducive to their excellent accuracy. The action is also about the same weight as well. In my eyes, the bolt seems to be a little lighter, but it appears that the biggest reduction in weight comes from the stock. As such, if you have a lightweight aftermarket stock that you want to put on your WH, then it shouldn't be much heavier than the T3.

Hello to you, it's been awhile, if I' reading you correctly the stock that I have for my old Tikka Whitetail Hunter in 270 should fit on a new Tikka T-3. I would assume the new T-3 receiver is the same length as the old long action receiver, the only difference being that the new action as a spacer inside if you wanted a caliber that was suppose to go into a short action. Is that correct assumption to make on both counts.

I honestly don't know. While the stock on the T3 has been redesigned, and while the action on the T3 is still essentially the same, I honestly don't know if there are any minor differences on the T3's receiver that would inhibit receiving a proper fit of a WH stock.

I'll tell you what...I should pick up my new T3 Stainless Lite this week (hopefully). Once I do, I'll let you know for sure!
