Waiting for Winchester Model 94 Cowboy Commemorative
« on: May 18, 2004, 05:13:59 PM »
I put a Winchester Cowboy Commemorative on lay-a-way back in January. I just sent my last payment. I just can't wait to get my hands on it.  :-D I was watching the History Channel on the American Cowboy and I got the itch to buy.

But the Cowboy Commemoratative does not have the right "LOOK." The "LOOK" is the WRANGLER Look. Basically the Wrangler is a Trapper with an over sized loop lever called by many the John Wayne lever. The first Wrangler to hit the market was in 32 Win. Special and it had an engraved receiver. The second Wrangler was in 38-55 Win. with an engraved receiver also. The rest of the Wrangler models do not have the engraved receiver.

So this Cowboy/Wrangler will be in 30-30 and with an engraved receiver 8) I also will have to have the barrel shortened to 16". Oh, I will have to have the JW lever nickel plated to match the the original lever or maybe have it highly polished to match the barrel. Then I'll install the large loop lever. But I think the high polished blue JW lever will look better.
