45-70 wildcat??
« on: February 02, 2005, 06:20:27 PM »
I picked up a few loaded 45-70 MK1 rounds the other day. They are necked down with a 40-41 caliber lead bullet about 275 grs. Any idea what it is?? Thanks. DM

Are you sure these are factory? Sounds almost like someone was making .40-65 rounds from .45-70 brass. Haven't heard of that particular headstamp of .45-70 MKI, but I wouldn't think they would stamp "MKI" after the caliber of a .40-.41 cal. load?

The 45-70 MK1 Was a naval line launching blank. These have been reloaded. I need to pull one apart and mic it out. DM
