Elmer Keith mentioned a round called the 357 Atomic in his book Sixguns(1955) but the cartridge did not survive long enough to make it into my 3rd edition of Cartridges of the World (1973).
I have one weapon and lots of toys.
If life turns really ugly, the one closest to hand is a weapon.
All the rest are toys.

Lloyd,
During the mid to late 50's  I was in the military in the San Diego area, I had a Great Western 38sp at that time. I remember the 357 Atomic, but never did see one or the ammo. Even at that time they were not that common.  In all the gun shows since then I have never run across ammo head stamped 357 atomic.

Like you, I well remember the pistol and its reviews, but never saw any ammo, loads or brass listed anywhere or an article speaking of such things.
