Cleaning powder stains from Nickel SSA

I have a Colt SSA that has been fired just a few times.  I want to remove the powder stains from the front of the cylinder without harming the nickel.  Anybody have a technique?

On my STAINLESS steel guns, I use a cotton swab and Naval Jelly to remove the stains on the cylinder face.  A little rubbing, and it looks absolutely unfired!

I would do the same on a nickel plated gun, CAFEFULLY!

This will NOT work on a blued gun, because Naval Jelly rust remover contains phosphoric acid, and would remove the blue.

I would test the naval jelly first on an area that cannot be seen.  It may not like the nickle..  There is a cleaning cloth I've seen advertised called 'Wipe-Away' I believe that is supposed to remove these stains but I've not experience with this..  I'd try pure acetone on a cotton patch first.  This is a very aggressive solvent and wobn't harm the nickle.  It may however dissolve the carbon which is what makes up most of the stain.  One might also use a bit of steel fur(0000 steel wool) very lightly to remove the accumulation...
