Experience with a suppressor??
« on: Yesterday at 05:14:06 AM »
Well, now that the $200 is off, and I believe just the paper work as if buying a firearm, considering getting a suppressor. I've shot a couple years back as a couple of friends let me shoot theirs. Looking to get one for my S&W FPC that's in .40 cal. Started looking at some ads and website's, wow, what a price range difference. Some start at around $400, and quickly go over $1,000. Are the expensive ones worth that much more? I understand they only reduce the noise, they don't eliminate it. Not sure paying almost double is worth only dropping the decibel from 130 to say 125. Any suggestions??

Yeah. Buy a set of walker’s xcel ear muff’s and shoot all your guns for around $100…

like anything else buy a good one or wait and save longer. i bought a cheaper 223 suppressor and its heavy and you cant pull it apart to clean. some of the better ones are convertible so you can use it on 40s and 9s. i dont much care for them on handguns. just to big and awkward. i want a 9mm/40 and a 45acp can for my ar pistols. if i were you id find someone local whos reputable and liston to his recommendation rather asking online. dont really think theres any experts on them here. i use walkers for load development but arent going to run around is the woods with them or put them on or in in the middle of the night when something goes bump. even my 556 suppressor helps a ton indoors. if youve ever shot even a handgun indoors you know how startling it is and a 556 will about make you deaf and possibly permanently. i have a shooting house at my range and have shot my suppressed 556's in it without ear protection. its still a crack from going supper sonic but is about like shooting a 22 mag instead of lighting off a flash bang!!
