motorcycles again-- i wanted to choke a few
« on: July 17, 2025, 11:22:39 PM »
couple local vets put on a MI motorcycle certificate training school. they asked me to help for a 2 day course. my important  ;) job was putting up and changing cones for the various skill tests. well i honestly want to choke a few students and even gut a couple. these idiots showing up in slacks and leather dress shoes and about as mature as my 12 year old grand daughter. just listening to them talk about would make your blood boil. things like the only reason someone would buy a harley is to keep their wife happy vibrating on the back seat. or one guys comment that over 70 they shake so bad you cant keep them on the road. one yuppy was bragging he had a line on an old v45 magna honda and it was an engine designed for honda by harley that harley would use because it was to reliable!!! the 2 buddies made me swear before the class started that i would keep my lip bit and not assault or kill anyone. honestly the best students were the girls, they kept their mouths shut and listened. none of them dumped a bike and i sure cant say that about the "boys" then there was one guy about 25 that obviously had road before. he was a bit scary. didnt talk to anyone other than answering questions the instructors asked. he had a black hoodie and every break he sat alone with that hood over his head and dark sun glasses. he sure fit the stereotype of a cereal killer. he was the best rider and second was a 22 year old purple haired girl who never road before. she just had natural balance and did the slow speed maneuvers probably as well as i could on my harley. they asked me if i wanted to be a fill in instructor and i laughed. told then these 2 days were about as much fun as a drag show!! also told them its absolutely insane that some of these idiots (course is designed so no one fails) can fumble f--k around for 2 days in a parking lot without even riding on a road, get their endorcement and ride a 150hp motorcycle next week! you can sure see why there are idiots killed on bikes!! pay your 300 bucks and you too can ride a hybusa!!

Yes..bit your lip, Lloyd..   I know how you felt, since insulting the instructor's choice in bikes, is just about the dumbest thing one can do.

Just consider the source...they are green at riding..but want to pretend they are experienced, and knowledgeable.  ...But they are just boastful braggarts at heart.

Here in NY we have the standard motorcycle proficiency tests; however since the 3 wheel Can Ams have come along, the dealers can now offer special classes for them.

I believe it is just a morning class, followed by certificate.  I guess I can understand that better, when one considers that most have a regular driver's license, and operating  a Can Am, is more like driving a small car, rather than a bike.

"Sport bikes" didn't earn the nickname of "zoom-splats" for nothing.

Just chalk it up to Darwin's theory at it's finest.

yup im sure selective breading will weed out a few of those idiots. i kind of took offense at the guys on here claiming bikes are so dangerous but looking at some of those idiots with purple hair and guys taking there helmets off the hair jelled scalps and checking the mirror to see how they looked kind of makes me think twice!! please tell me why someone would come to motorcycle training with slacks and hair jell. me? i had one of my ballistic padded kevlar line milwaukee iron flannel shirt and my wicked stock kevlar lined ballistic armored jeans.. when the instructor saw me he showed them all proper gear. there was even some interest till they found out there a 100 bucks a pop. i wear them on the dirt bike and any time its to hot for leathers on the harley. ive got so many joint replacements and back surgeries that if i do go down i want any protection i can buy!! ive got more money in riding gear than half of them will spend on a pos bike

I'm taking the HD held course the first 3 days in August.  I'm gonna try to keep a low profile (not wear my colors) but my chapter Pres. and VP are gonna come to "cheer me on!"  Actually I'd be the Pres. (Spurs) wants to see if I'd be safe to ride in the pack.
Anyway you are spot on about the appropriate riding gear.  Are the shirt and jeans you mentioned comfortable (not hot) for warm weather riding?

there very comfortable. look and fit like a pair of wranglers and unless you knew what you were looking at youd never know they had pads and kevlar. the jeans are a bit warmer but not noticeable unless your standing in hot weather. riding youd never notice. the shirt is like a heavy flannel but a bit heavier with the pads but does have zip open vents. both can be used without the pads and still have a kevlar lining. they probably wont protect you like good leathers but heat gets me and leathers are hot. before i had these i tended in hot weather to just wear plain jeans and a long sleave shirt or jean jacket but these give much better protection and are no harder to throw on. i liked them both enough that i bought a second set of each. now if im taking off for a long ride i still do leathers but these are perfect for kicking around and perfect for the dirt bike. since i bout them this summer ive only had my leathers on twice

Thanks for the info Lloyd.  I'll think I'll pick up a set.  I don't look good in road rash!  ;D
