I just purchased one in 7RM and am very pleased with overall quality of rifle...so far. Fit to finish is very good. Stock grain was pretty nice for factory rifle. I just put a Bushnell 4x12 Elite 3200 on it so it should be nice reacher with 26" barrel. I am building house so I haven't had time to get to range yet. All my range stuff is in back of storage garage and can't be reached. What moron put it there?  Tough to look in mirror these days...  I guess I will buy some factory ammo and give it a whirl soon once temperature gets a little better and mosquitos stop carrying off the dogs.

I have been toying with the idea of getting one in a .35 Whelen.  I sure wish they made the Whelen in Remington's Stainless Synthetic version.

From what I have heard the CDL's are basically the larger production runs of the yearly classic in multiple calibers.  That being said they are not completely the same rifle.   The CDL is like the Classic in that it has a satin finish, both the barrel and the stock, not the high gloss version.  They are very nice indeed.   I personally have two classics in 257 Roberts and 300 Savage, if I were to get another R700 in any cal. it would be the CDL because it looks like an older rifle.

A step in the right direction----but still the same old---same old Remington product. They still need to address quality and accuracy issues.

I've looked at a couple, and think that Remington may be taking step in the right direction here. I really like the fell of the gun, and I would buy one in 300 Win. Mag, but I just can't justify it to myself to get one right now.

I'm the same way with the CDL in the Whelen.  I'm just gonna wait for a while, but hopefully not too long.    :)

Man sorry but I have to totally disagree.  I dont know about the quality issue, because this is my first gun (I still have seen others), but about the accuracy you are totally wrong.  My Remington 700 ADL 30-06, can put up just as good of a shooting show as your $700 SAKO or whatever brand you want.  Except mine only cost a lil over $300.  I can put shots .5 inch from each other at a hundred yards, an if I may say so, that is VERY good for a 15 year old.  I can only improve from there.  It took me 14 shots to get my gun zeroed in at 1.5 inch high at 100 yards.  That and it proved itself in the field by shooting 5 does, 4 dropped, one ran 75 yards.  Although it has a "synthetic" finish and does not say "Made in Europe" on the side, it is an awsome gun.  Actually the synthetic is better than a wood stock, because I don't have to worry about hitting it on anything (more than 3 people have told me that).  It may not look as good on a shelf, but it works.  One guy that owns a Sako, has even commented me on how good the gun looks.  :) Since I just bought a new scope that can zoom 5x farther, maybe I will be able to improve the .5 groups, into .25 inch groups.  At least its worth a try.........a kid has to dream   :)  :-D  All in all, it may not be as pretty, but with the right bullets and optics it can be just as smooth a shooter as anything!!

Remington 700's are as accurate as any other factory rifle out there. But I don't like em' because the design is just not what I want. It has a puny extractor, a safety that doesn't block the firing pin, a plunger ejector instead of a blade type, a brazed on bolt handle and the stock just doesn't feel right to me.

Hey guys, I guess I'll put my two cents in, I have a Remington BDL 33 7-08 that I will put against all comers, this baby can shoot and I just don't mean at the 100 yard line, I mean all the way out to 418 yards.  I would never part with this rifle, the trigger breaks at 2.5 lbs and I just love it.  Just purchased a Remington 223 with heavy barrel, but haven't had a chance to get out and shoot it, but looking at it and cleaning it and working on the trigger, I don't see quality has a problem.

I was a Gander Mountain the other day and had a chance to look at a CDL and really like the looks and feel of it, but thats me, some one else might not like it, but my next rifle will be a CDL or was that a Weatherby Accurmark. can't remember, maybe I'll just get both because I can't remember, isn't getting older just wonderful.

I had the CDL ordered as soon as it was announced by Remington. It took a while for the distributors to recieve them. I was excited and impressed with the look and feel of the CDL when I received it. I own more than one Remington product and have never had anything but good results with them. The quality of work, accuracy etc. are exceptional. My first was a Remington targetmaster single shot 22. Was a tack driver in the middle 50's and still is today. I have learned that some people equate dollars spent with quality recieved but it just aint so. I think they like to say oh look at what I have it cost X$ and is the best money can buy. Anyway enjoy your Remington or which ever you own if you are satisfied with it, dosent matter what other people think or say, as long as it gets the job done.

Have you ever owned a Remington before? Although I am use to my Ruger M77 7mag and shoot it all the time, I would bet anyone I can blow dust off my old 700BDL 30'06 and shoot an apple at 400 yards. So unless Remington has changed I would not think they need more attention to anything. Just my  :money:

Oh yeah the new CDL is an eye-pleaser
