I am finally able to pickup my new Benelli SB11 today and want to be able to use it this year for a latter permit. Since I don't have much time any suggestions?

They claim Hevi-Shot is the best, but it is more than I am going to pay. I use remington turkey loads, either the regular velocity of the high velocity. I prefer #5 shot. They all could shoot different in different guns so I would pattern it. The Remingtons have patterned well in all 3 guns that I have tried it in with a full or extra full choke.

I picked up my gun today and the dealer recommended Remmington Hevi-Shot 1 3/4 oz. #6. Since the gun doesn't come with an extra full choke or tighter I asked about turkey chokes for the gun but she didn't have any and that is the load she thought for a full choke. What is odd is I guess there are alot of after market turkey chokes for SB1's but the SB11's have different threads so they won't fit Is there any yet made for SB11's?

From what I have read, you generally do want as tight a choke with Heavy Shot. Generally a full is good enough and sometimes a Mod might work. Remington does make a Heavy Shot Turkey tube for their guns. I think it is tighter than a full but no where near a super or extra full. Someone else might be able to give better info since I have not shot any of it, just read about it.

Big Z, It should not be a suprise that the dealer recommends Heavy-Shot, just look at the price. I find the Winchester XX and Federal Premium copperplated turkey loads give good patterns, and the ten packs are cheap enough to try a couple shot sizes.

personally I don't think the advantage of Hevy-Shot is worth the cost. I have never had a problem killing turkeys with any of the big 3, Winchester, Remington or Federal, copper plated buffered loads. They are all good and are all more than adequate to kill turkeys. I have always leaned a little towards Federal Premium 3" #4s, but have used all three brands in #4, and #5, all were good.
