Got rid of the Direct dish many moons ago. Just to damn expensive. I feel for people who are at their mercy and only means of tv sources. I always had better luck with Dish than Direct tv anyway but both were a pain in the butt. Glad I am somewhere that can get cable. Of course the only thing I subscribe to is Spectrum internet, no tv service. With internet I can use my ROKU which is all I need to watch everything I want (free) including newsmax.

If not for my wife Dish network would be out a customer. There are some shows they carry that she likes such as the totally goofy Legend of Oak Island or something like that. I have decent enough internet now to stream my entertainment and I would be perfectly happy with only that.

I have direct tv and I like it, yes it's too expensive.

I don't drink, I don't smoke, and I don't do drugs, I buy Direct TV every month instead, because I like it.

I can get regular TV, but like I said, I enjoy sat TV better.

Last 2 days I stayed in a water park hotel... enjoyed the 100 plus channels ;). Weather channel and outdoor channel only as the rest were garbage... Turned my boob tube off many years back. You should give it a try...

^^^ Oh Yeah! ^^^

In 2014 I had a two (2) year CONTRACT with Brighthouse.  I had to fight them for over an hour on the phone EVERY MONTH to get them to honor the price terms of the contract.  Exhausted at the end of the term, I shut them off, packaged their equipment for pickup, which they never did, returned the receiver as a term of the contract, bought cheaper AT&T Internet with bundled cell phone service, and installed a one time, $100 (though there are lesser and more expensive ones), free broadcast, antenna to the Wifi capable TV.  Now the 72+inch Smart TV receives about a hundred FREE channels, of which only a few are worth watching, and the Internet.  Events of the day can be found on the Net through word of mouth (GBOReloaded, et al), Fox, Youtube (Meme The Left!), and conservative content.

I have heard that there are one-time-fee devices(?) that thereafter "stream" or deliver free(?) movies, TV shows, etc.  If true, I am interested in hearing more about those.  I swap DVD movies with Choir Members to see their subset of "$5-a-hit" Walmart entertainment.  I saw the first 4-seasons of Yellowstone that way.  Season 5 - not yet.

More than likely, Direct just "felt theburn", so they settled

I took Direct about 4 years ago.. I contracted at a price...which they doubled at about the first anniversary.  It was shortly after that breaking of their word..that I quit them.
They never did come collect their junk, although I reminded them 2-3 times..and their trucks were around..

Finally, I just junked their stuff and have no cable, no dish..no nothing.  My son set me up with various online apps, so I can find/watch whatever I want on my TV..without them..

Direct TV charged me those big bills, and I used only perhaps 10 channels.  I had no use for game shows, ESPN, Disney, BET.. or most of their channels.

I don't know about one time payments for any streaming services. We were able to start our spectrum internet for seniors at 18.00 a month for 30 GB service. Have had it for going on three years now. Since then they changed the requirements to a higher price but were still paying the 18 a month. I have an antenna if i want to watch the fake news channels. We also installed a ROKU which we get whatever we want to watch if you want to pay extra. We have Netflix for the movies and commercial free programming. There are a bunch of free sites for movies but all have commercials. Between my wife and me we tried all the various streaming pay channels for a free time period where we caught up with Yellowstone and the likes. I'm not putting anyone down about their tv service I just think what you pay for any of this crap is too much. I think what i Pay 18.00 plus 16 plus tax is too much also but to each their own. But it sure is a lot cheaper than the cheapest direct tv package. Choose your own and be happy.

Direct started with me at $100 per mo...then after a year they about doubled it.

After my son set me up from WiFi...which I don't understand...(perhaps from his house next door..)
I am getting all kinds of services..Youtube, Roku, Peacock, ID, Smithsonian, Newsmax, Fox nation and many
   many more.

Yes, I would have to pay if want to view some of their stuff, but most of that, I am not interested in anyway.

As far as entertainment or movies...I am not into fiction, and surprisingly, most non-fiction and intellectual subjects are free anyway.

Yeah I find that free movies on Tubi tv, Roku and Vudu satisfies my needs. All three have commercials but they all have tons of good movies. They also have the fewest commercials i have found. I don't like paying the 16 plus for Netflix but they also have a great movie lineup. I watched the 5th season of Yellowstone with a free 2 week subscription of Paramount but I think I am done with Costner and Yellowstone forever. When I had both satellite services it just seemed they were constantly raising their prices but what isn't now days? I have to add if your son set you up with wifi from his house and you're getting the channels you mentioned that it is actually theft of services! doesn't that bother you.?
