The war in Ukraine has shown the value of tanks, but militaries are now looking to stock up on slimmed-down versions of them

As I said before, they will be going lighter and possibly mounted on wheels. General dynamics is already working on an
  Abrams replacement, called the AbramsX.

Very different in many ways from the present Abrams. They wouldn't be doing that if tanks are obsolete..

I did a lot of searching and the Abramx x at this point still born, but that could change.
One site said compared to the Armada the X was lighter, manuervable etc., etc. but could not take the punishment of the Armada or current Abrams.

We really don't know that much about the Armada do we?  At least not beyond what the Russians
 claim
it can do.
The AbramsX did get into the separation of the ammo from the crew, by way of automatic loader, placing the entire crew in the hull.
Some of the Russian tanks have that feature, but their automatic loaders were erratic in function..which in itself
certainly endangers the crew.  I doubt our designers/engineers would take that same chance.

The Abrams does have ammo storage separate from the crew, but in a different way.https://www.inetres.com/gp/military/cv/tank/M1.html

The tanks I served in back in the 1950s, had our main gun ammo stored vertically around the periphery of the turret, and horizontally under the turret floor.
Many of the Russian tanks in service today, still store ammo in that way, which is why, when the ammo "cooks off"..it blows the turret straight up off the tank..

It seems like the German made, TOW equipped Wiesel, would be helpful in the Ukraine.  Light, fast and can be placed on scene by helicopter when/where needed.
