I'd be willing to bet that they kept most all of their liberal ideology. They may give up some of their woke isms, but to suddenly going from liberal democrats to conservative Republicans ain't likely.

This "unprecedented party switch"  also came on the heels of a "re-districting" of voters to a republican majority  voting district.

Mitch McConnell, Lindsay Graham, and Dan Crenshaw are "Republicans", and republican doesn't mean conservative anymore.

As has been said: climate change has been made into a new religion. Some extremely liberal politicians see woke ism being rejected, so their "changing party affiliations" or simply dropping out of the democratic party as a matter of survival,  but are not changing their liberal ideology.

To beat a dead horse, Tulsi Gabbard is a prime example. She is now the darling of Fox News, but has yet to be confronted on her extremely liberal views, not has she herself addressed any of her past liberal transgressions. She hasn't joined the republican party, but is giving high toned commentary, and feeling things out.

She should have shown herself to anyone paying attention when she apologized to the queer community while running for election, then abandoning them when it was over.

ALL LIBERALS DO IT.

Liberals are camelions. They change when the need arises as a method of staying relevant.

Yes, Bill Clinton was this way.  He stuck his finger in the air to see which way the wind was blowing with opinion poles.  This made him liked by the middle as well as the left.  Democrats since have been hellbent on pushing their agenda, starting with Obama, then Hillary, and now Joe.  They will not compromise with the Republicans on anything.  We had a reprieve with Trump, especially with the appointment of mostly conservative judges.  We had low gas prices, cheap oil, we didn't import oil and our economy was booming until Covid was released by the Chinese. 

Now many former democrats in the deep south switched parties during Reagan and Clinton due to the democrats going too far left.

Anytime a liberal suddenly quits the democratic party theres a reason behind it, and it almost never is due to a "conservative revelation"Revelation.

Leo Terrell is one of the few that backed up his verbal switch with real action, and even though Trump lost, Terrell is still all in for conservatism.

Smart democrats? Certainly not in New Mexico. This state is dead last in education among the states and Puerto Rico and we have a very low graduation rate. What is the current proposal to fix the graduation rate? Reduce the number of credits required to do so. These people proposing that fix must have received a NM education. 

I am firmly convinced when a politician changes anything, be it democrat or republican, it is for their best interest and not the people they serve. I might be off when I said "serve". It's more like "fool". I agree with Dee's political survival. It appears to me that it is an easier job that getting out and working for a living plus it's much easier to steal and get by with it that when you are just an ordinary citizen.

  There is hope..a slim hope, but a hope that is better than the ones who put Demented Joe & Frantic Futterman
    where they are.

   Hopefully, enough Dems are of the old line liberal types,... not good..but they may elbow out the the screwball post-modernism idiots.

   That may reduce the Dems to a party the rest of us can handle by numbers.

   Our big challenge, is to get the radicals out of their appointed positions..from the IRS..right on through to the military...
