T-shirt and shorts weather Sunday and Monday here reaching 76 yesterday. It doesn't last long this time of year. The wind was howling before I went to bed last night and was still dooing so when I awoke this morning. It has let up some and is out of the north now with the high is predicted to be 41 with small chance of rain later today.

I sure am grateful for the little global warming we are having this winter here in western Pa.  The older get the more I dislike cold weather.  Plus I burn less fuel oil, although I do burn the wood burner when the temps are below 40.
On the other end of the spectrum, up in NH, on top of Mt. Washington the lowest temp on record was recorded at -46.9 with I believe the coldest windchill ever recorded in the US at -110.  So no global warming up there.

...............,...... ............

I live 29 miles from Mt. Washington  and it got to -26⁰ at my house for 2 days.
The funny thing is the wind was howling 30 to 40 mph. I have never seen -20⁰ with high winds in New England.  Usually 0⁰ or below is calm, clear, and still with smoke from chimneys going straight up. I'd expect to see wind in subzero temps on mountain tops, but not down in the valleys. Btw, the cold snap did freeze a hot water pipe to the kitchen,  but no harm done.

Growing up in Vermont we would see  -40⁰ on occasion.  I remember a week in January when the temperature never rose above -10⁰ even during the day.
.
That is rare in my experience also...usually super cooled air is quite quiescent..
