Ukrainian tank battles
« on: December 30, 2022, 02:14:35 PM »
The tank battles in the Ukrain are probably the first tank battles since Vietnam in forested areas.
All before this were mostly is wide open spaces where a tank kill at two miles was not difficult.
When you cannot see much beyond a quarter miles it is a whole different world.
I am quite sure that Armies in many areas with with forests are paying close attention to tactics and what makes tanks most vulnerable.

Even the absolute best tank today will go nowhere if the track is destroyed.
Tank recovery methods are probably getting a lot of look see.

deep forest and jungle is not ideal terrain for a tank, whereas open plains and desert are more  it's best operating conditions.  I.e.  The WW2 battle of Kursk, Kasserine Pass and  El Alamain..and our armored forces in Desert Storm at 73 easting..

Patton was something special..gifted in how he could deploy and use his armor..

If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)
