sad thing is they closed 4 coal fired power plants up here. 3 of them 80mw and the one i worked at which did 800mw and theres no chance even if the political climate changes that they will be reopened because they tore them down. They claimed they had to be tore down to restore the land to what it was before they were built but the comical thing is one is now a parking lot and the other a condo development. What a waste. They were all replaced by a 200mw natural gas plant and a new transmission line comming from wisconson that has a system running at max 24/7 and is prime for brown outs and black outs. Only coal fired power plants i know of up here anymore are a couple small 10mw units two of the paper mills have that just supply there own power. They are even tearing out the small hydro plants up here because of pressure to restore the rivers to the way they originally are. The environmentalist didnt even factor in theres a couple homes build down stream of the one closest to me that will be put in peril by floods because the water can no longer be controlled.  Last i heard they werent even going to compensate those homeowners for their loss. There are also about 50 homes and camps on the reservoir that paid for waterfront property and there property value will tank because the reservoir will be nothing but a stump forest from all the trees that died when they first flooded it. All pushed by the down state liberals that dont even live here and were instrumental in reintroducing wolves to this area but sure didnt want them in thier back yard.

Over the last 20-30 years, natural gas has slowly been replacing coal, because of the carbon emissions.  Now they are trying to do away with natural gas. 

It is going to take years to build enough windmills and solar panels, with battery systems, to replace the coal, natural gas, and fuel oil power plants.  Like 30 or more years.  Then there will be areas of the country that will not have enough wind, or enough sunshine to make wind and solar, so that would have to be filled with nukes.  None of the people want nuke plants. 

Even Elon Musk said drilling and pipeline construction will have to continue for a while to keep the economy going as it gradually transitions.   Of course, the left don't like him anymore. 

I think the ultimate goal is not the transition to alternative energy, but control.  The left wants total control over our lives.

They’re not doing it because they’re rejecting climate change. Sometimes self preservation and electricity is more important than climate goals. Blame it on the war in Ukraine.
