Mother Nature put on a fantastic one here last night. It started just before complete darkness and went on for almost two hours with a slight intermission about the middle. My wife and I went out fairly close to the start to watch the fire works and about two minutes into the watching a lightning bolt hit so close the thunder clap was instant. My wife grabbed my arm and put her head down on my shoulder and said it scared her. Then she turned loose, said she had seen enough, and went in the house. It was done and gone and we were still alive so why worry?

It was just sprinkling then but not too long after Ma Nature dumped her bucket. The gutter across the back of the house couldn't keep up and more water was pouring out the top of it than and coming out of the downspout. My drive ways were covered in water. It's been a long time since we had a rain like this one. It didn't last all that long but my rain guage had 2 1/2 inches in it this morning.
Little Tatum, NM, about 18 mile due north of me, has a weather website that give daily, monthly, and yearly rainfall amounts and they didn't get anything. They are showing less than 5 inches for the year but this puts me slightly over 7 inches, most of which I got in late August. That is about half the yearly average but the cowboys will have some grass for the winter and I'll have to poison the weeds in my driveway and brush hog the pasture again.
