   Yes, last of the "fearsome foursome"...statesmen in action when the iron curtain came down..

  Gorbachev, Maggie Thatcher, pope John Paul II, and "Ronaldus Magnus", as Rush called him.

  Actually, Gorbachev did not want the wall to crumble, but he had no choice.  The other 3, led by Pres Ronald
    Reagan, brought the old USSR to dissolution..

  Reagan and Thatcher knew the commies were no good...and John Paul, being Polish, knew first hand.. the suffering and evil, brought on by communism.

  Reagan's coup, is perhaps the greatest diplomatic victory ever brought about by an American president !

As far as PRC is concerned, who was there creating some of the history, Gorbie was key turning the temperature down and steering the Soviet hardliners away from global incineration and worked with Reagan. Who's going to do that in Soviet America? Neocons? Biden?
