Since our unusual experiences in the outdoors is seldom used I decided to see if the belief in a Bigfoot creature was still alive & well. Seems it sure is.

Yeti? The HMS Terror was dealing with something like this. Or that’s what they said back then. A bunch ice stranded sailors in the Arctic who were eating each other and made them go crazy. The ice busted up the hull of the ship so it eventually sank. Terror, hell of a name for a ship.

There's a bunch of people here that
have the "what animals are here and
what are not here" argument fairly
regularly
One of the biggest was the mountain
lion thing. Everybody on this farm to
market road here has seen at least one
one time. A couple of beeves have been
torn up by them. More than a few pets
have been chewed up.
Yet there are as many that will say "those
people just saw bobcats. The big lions
don't exist in so-and-so county "
Either that, or " if there were XXXX, somebody
would have it on a game camera. ."
My opinion is that too many won't sit there
a$$es out in the hot or the cold or the
rain etc. and watch for whatever. If they
are out in the field, they're napping, or
diddling with their smartphones, or reading
a book, or guzzling beer instead of using
their own eyes and ears to look and
observe wth is going on in the bush.

When I was a kid, old people used to tell of being followed along the road at night by a panther that would screech at them.

I asked my Dad about them and he said a little screech owl will sometimes follow people who are walking a country road at night.
Imaginations run wild at times.

There was always tales of black panthers then, but even if there were pumas around the chances of one being black was somewhere between slim and none.

Black jaguars are common, leopards less so.

Bobcats, cougars, leopards and jaguars are known to be real animals. They can be found in zoos, and there is plenty of physical evidence in the wilds that they exist - hair, bones, scat. Gigantopithecus is only known by a few teeth and jaw fragments. Bigfoot is not known by any validated physical evidence. Doesn’t mean they don’t exist, but then it’s impossible to prove a negative.

The skeptics that scoff at the existence of "Big Foot" are not true outdoorsman. I actually had a "Big Foot" living on my property for almost 20 years. Thru careful observance I learned that they were not strict herbivores, but would eat meat, or most anything.
He finally graduated High School, and went off to the Army, and they had to feed him.

Twice a genuine "Black Panther" followed me home. Me and a shotgun told him to take himself and his buddies on down the road, and not to come back cause there weren't no fried chicken, and chitlins in Hell.

There are no black pumas, and leopards and jaguars are separate species of cats.

I’ve never seen anything like a Big Foot. But i have seen a big satellite burning up upon re-entry in the atmosphere. It was bright and lit up the winter sky. Streaking across the horizon.

I’ve been on this earth for 79 years and have heard cougars called pumas, catamounts, panthers, mountain lions, but never called leopards or jaguars.
On rare occasion, a jaguar will work its way into the southwest desert and those can be black but rarely are.

Look! I know for a fact tha Cougars come in all color phases. There is even a pink one. I've seen him on TeeVee many times. Big foot? Nope, does not exist. If you see one, don't shoot it. I don't think there is a law against it, but shooting a man in a monkey suit, will get you sent up for murder.

A few years ago a deer hunter here shot a Florida panther that had worked his way north.
He thought he was going to jail for a while but was finally cleared of wrongdoing.
I think he got his panther back.

I call them mountain lions or cougars once in a while a panther. This mammal is known by more names than probably any other. I call some dumb asses and while not the common name for such it is widely accepted as a name for them

I heard there once was a family of bigfoots holed up in the woods, over in neighboring Allegany county.

They were doing pretty good, what with food stamps, WIC, unemployment and Covid checks. Biut the farmer got sick of them trashing out the shed where he boiled his maple syrup..and ran them off.

Last I heard, they were going south to lay over in Bill's woods ! They want to get to Alabama before winter sets in...
