Your link brought up a photo of what looks like a motorcycle engine..that I couldn't advance any further.
So I found another link to share;
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/the-army-just-selected-its-first-light-tank-in-decades I have mentioned here previously, that I expected just such a development..and have been looking forward to it!
Any fast moving unit with a full power gun tube, will be welcome on today's battle field.
This new tank carries a 120mm round..apparently the same as the Abrams, evidently less armor, trading speed in place of mass. (Some say 120mm , some say 105mm, either could be adequate)
Looking at the photo..shows some interesting trade-offs. Note; the drive sprockets are up front..which means the transmission is in front, followed by the engine..extra protection for driver and BOG.
The tracks indicate a 30+ ton vehicle..
..But look a bit closer..there may be room to carry some troops toward the rear, ala the Merkava (chariot) tank, Israel's MBT.
Speed in maneuverability as well as speed at coming on target are both important..because of one common
factor in tank-on-tank combat.
In tank-on-tank combat, the one who scores the first hit..usually comes off the winner,, because, even if the first round doesn't penetrate, the crew is 'going through a significant enough experience", ...enough to prevent them from getting off their own well aimed shot !
