  I have long dismissed claims of mental problems for Putin, but now..with this news...Has he gone mad?

  I have intentionally backed off from addressing the war against Ukraine, not only because it is old news, but because it was becoming very boring.

   ..But now we have a dictator who threatens the US, the UK and Finland with nuclear destruction.  Has he gone completely bonkers?

     Moreover, has his whole staff cracked up?  You cannot say that threatening nuclear for the whole world..which would be the effect... makes any kind of sense.

  I had disregarded such suggestions of madness, until I saw this..and the whole Kremlin crowd at least pretends to be with him.

  After viewing the video, I find it interesting that he threatens the free world with a missile named SATAN 2 .

    Quite a missile  title for a  "Christian nation" to bestow.  Wondering about the psychology behind that name..

Yea but you know, in a way, so do I.  Back when the Soviet Union was around, that area was quite stable, and the same could be said for Iraq.

I still don't desire to consider the man as being insane..and it would seem that the entire regime would goalong with threats that could provoke the entire world, so I wonder what the aim is.

  Surely, threatening the whole "free world" as it is referred to, with nuclear destruction.  That act may just be a bluff..but a very dangerous bluff.

  Russia could perhaps accomplish a first strike, but the return would be devastating...  Not only  a return from the US, UK, France and any other nuclear power in the NATO group.  Then would come the airpower difference and surely the US and UK being the most powerful Navies in the world  would shortly devastate Russia by surface missiles along with who knows how many, submarine launched missiles.

  I don't even care to contemplate the destruction involved, because there would for sure, be no "winner"..
   Every nation involved, plus those not involved, would suffer unspeakable misery.

IG..,....you should be judging if Joe and his cohorts are insane, not Putin. Putin is doing exactly what he said Russia would do to protect Russian lives. As a Russo-phobe and unaware of Russian history you should maybe be careful believing the propaganda in your 2 links in your first post.
   Protecting Russian lives? How about protecting ALL lives by refusing to invade his neighbor? ..Besides, that is an old game...Attila was protecting Hun lives, Hannibal was protecting Carthaginian lives as they invaded their neighbors.    And Hitler was protecting German lives, same as Stalin was protecting Russian lives when they invaded their neighbor, Poland, in 1939.
 It seems like any excuse will do.

  Unaware of Russian history?  Without extrapolation, but rather a brief encapsulation...  Russia was originally a broad land occupied by by warring primitive tribes.  Vikings made their way up through from the Bosporus about a millennia ago, and settled themselves in the environs around today's Moscow.. These Vikings were called "Rus" a very old term..  They hammered those local tribes into line..thus Russia.  Since then, Peter's "windows on the west, Catherine the Great and the Tsars..Russia has been nothing but expansionist..

Too think it will be a WW II near ground burst, that would be silly; all they have to do is air bursts miles above the earth and the digital systems that run the vast majority of social systems would cease to exist.
