If I were to pick my favorite rimfire it would be my Marlin 39 A, I have 2 of them. But I like all types of 22’s, I have a pump, a semi auto, several bolt actions and a couple martini action single shots and they all have a place to shine.
I also have a Marlin 57 M levermatic in 22 mag and a single shot falling block in 17 HMR.
I once was a very avid squirrel hunter and always preferred head shots with a rimfire rifle instead of using a shotgun. Now I don’t hunt so much with rimfires but do shoot a few yard pests and plink and shoot targets with them.
When I can get my wife to shoot a rifle she likes my fathers old single shot Winchester 67 as you need to load it one at a time and cock it to shoot and she likes that arrangement.
Lately I have bought a couple of value packs of the auto match ammo at Walmart. It’s not bad ammo for being under .05 a round. I still have a good stock of ammo that the others like and even a few boxes of shorts for my Winder musket.
They are all fun !
