Back in my younger years , I bred, hunted,showed and competed with terriers. ..Airedales and Jack Russells to be exact.
Terriers are a ball of energy and a truck load of assertiveness. One has to be cautious when introducing them to other dogs or a new event..
My Airedales were generally tractable to aloof with human strangers, but want to dominate other dogs.
Both breeds are 'sporting' to the nth degree..either one would tackle a grizzly, without a second thought.
Yes, the owner tried to keep the terrier tied, but it probably would have been best if the dog were left at home.
The term "terrier" comes from the word "terra" or earth, since their original job was to go to earth to seek their quarry.
Airedales are of course, too large to go to earth, but they still will dig with great energy.
