We got rain!
« on: May 02, 2022, 04:10:24 AM »
The weatherman's prediction panned out yesterday afternoon. It might have lasted 5 minutes and managed to get the patio wet at my house and that was it. 4 1/2 miles south and a half mile east at my daughter's they got about the same amount of rain but it was accompanied by large hail. My daughter got her car in the garage but the son-in-law's work vehicle sustained a broken windshield and window along with a lot of dents. My grand daughter parked her pickup up a large tree and got by with a broken windshield and a couple of dents. #1 grandson got by with a broken windshield and some dents in his pickup. It also broke two skylights out on the house and ruined the shingles. They also have a mess to clean up as there was leaves, pine cones, and tree limbs all over their yard after the storm.

Except for me coming down with a deluxe size case of the spring crud last week we would have been there and have a beat to heck Acadia this morning. Yesterday was my oldest great grand daughter's 14th birthday and a surprise party was held at my daughter's for her yesterday afternoon which we declined to attend because I didn't want to expose anyone to my bug. I was bummed about missing her party but am now glad we did.

Got a roofer coming today to look at my month old roof.

Ranch roads took a beating because of flooding last night.

This is short paved road going towards the ranch entrance, and the road to the bull pasture.

The bottom pic is flood debris washed up on fence and mesquite. Prairie pasture appears flat,  but it seldom is. This demonstrates that.

Was out here last week
Coming back next week to gaze upon it
after last night's blow

Lots of tree limbs to deal with this AM
Lesson learned again.
Don't put the chainsaw up in a condition
other than ready-to-use
Didn't take long to put it right, but it
might have been a booboo if there had
been a genuine emergency

Yep
Most of the larger ranches west of
here I used to hunt at had a small
dozer and/or track loader for that
very reason
Some of the soil to the west can be
hard as bricks one time and soft as
mashed taters the next
