Instant coffee
« on: October 02, 2020, 02:57:15 PM »
I had a malfunction with my coffee
maker at the outpost this week, and
had to fall back on some instant coffee
I'd bought as an emergency measure.
I'd never tried it beforehand, which I
know is a boo-boo of the first order,
but I got a real surprise and Mr. Murphy
stayed away. It was really good coffee
not just good instant.
It was Nescafe Dolco in a little small
jar. I liked it well enough that I'll be
buying more next week when I go
grocery shopping
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

It's kinda like potted meat and
crackers is way better than an
empty stomach.
I've been way off in * * egypt
or out in the gulf of mexico
and would have paid five dollars
for a few sips of hot coffee.
To have some that was good
when expecting way less was
a bonus for me.
I couldn't not share that one

I am a bit confused here.
Nescafe Dolce is a pod type of coffee used in a Nescafe Dolce machine.

At the same time there are a number of Nescafe instants , including Taster's Choice , of which some are not bad, but no Dolco. :o

From experience, it is best once an instant jar is opened to always keep it in a truly tight sealing plastic bag same goes for coffee beans.

Well brother,  I don't know
what to tell you.  The jar
label says Nescafe Dolco
dark roast instant. I wrote
it down verbatim.
It was what was sitting on
the shelf wherever I bought
it at, and wasn't something
I specifically sought out.
I do also have some here
that's labeled Nescafe Taster's
Choice house blend single
serve packets.
It's indicated as between light
and medium roast, which is
most likely why it doesn't taste
even half as good as the dark
roast out of the jar.

You got me looking.

I found this, Nescafe Dolca.
From Dollar General, 1 dollar; the same thing , in a two pack, from Amazon, 7.59, one of the reasons I have zero love for Amazon.

havent tried instants for years but I never found one i liked back then. The coffee in a tea bag is pretty good though. Just nuke some water and use them like your making tea. Kind of expensive though but i keep some at camp for when im alone and only want a single cup.

Yeah
I can see how a paper label " dolcA" can
become a "dolcO " with lower case letters.
It's probably rubbed some

That is what it looks like.
Unfortunately, it's 200 miles away
so there's no looking at it right now

Same thing here for me on the instants
until now. I  just had this set aside to
use JIC.
The little coffee bags are good and
expensive too. I've only bought em
once,  and now I'll just use instant
or put some regular grounds in a
freezer bag and make cowboy coffee
when the need strikes

I am glad you mentioned instant coffee, that made me check my supply and all I have left is one-half small jar.

There are more foo-foo, as Conan says, instant coffee brands for sale right now; I think I will try some before it disappears.

Always preferred percolated coffee(Folgers) cooked on the stove top but in a pinch when there wasn't time to make a pot of coffee used Folgers Instant and it was tolerable.

The Cuvee coffee thread got me looking to see how many brands are totally gone; one my parents used to have around often was Butternut.
Butternut is still out there but now comes only in 12 oz. cans and 2 oz. instant espresso jars, so, I bought, from Ebay three instant jars.

I wanted to get some Beechnut coffee, same company that made the gum, but now the coffee is kaput, as is the gum; they only make health food now.
I have cut down on my heavy coffee drinking now as it is supposed to be one reason you can get the shakes, instead drinking tea.  (I drank as much tea in the past six months as I did in the past ten years)

I apparently I have decided to use instant coffee far, far, far more often as a jar used to last  a year and I have gone through three jars last year. 8)

It's not too bad after you figure out
the right ratio of powder to use

Just me-  it's better than doing without
