Saw an early Martini .22 target rifle at the gun show today. It looked much like my #12, but without the hole in the rear of the receiver, and it had another odd attachment. The seller didn't know what it was, but there was a lever on the right side of the receiver, above the trigger, that appeared to lock the action from opening? It had the standard knob at the front, for removing the trigger group, but the lever at the rear didn't move when the gun was cocked, only when it was in the uncocked, or hammer down position.
Am I on the right track thinking this is some sort of safety that keeps the block from being opened?
