I have been down this road before-myownself-trying to understand God in my own mind. Trying to come up with answers which would be correct and explain God to me. Make sense out of the Chaos of my own mind.
I am different than a lot of folks. I never have been one to trust my own mind, I guess afraid or aware that others may have been thru this maze and may have some insights and thoughts which would help.
I figured it would be good to see what other folks had to say about this, both sides mind you.
Now I am not an intellectual, guess I didn't need to say that, you folks are pretty smart and could easily see thru that smoke screen.
I have read a lot from folks that believe, don't believe, doubt, have highly intellectual approaches towards the subject to those that have overly simplistic thought.
The Bible is not a book written by a man. It is also not literature. It is not a collection of auto-transcribed writings dictated by the Lord.
The Bible is a collection of 66 books, written by 40 or so authors over a period of 2500 years or so. In every book it shows/reveals the nature of God, who he is and what he is not. In every book this bible points man to one person as the sole creator and sustainer of all things. In every book It points to mans fallen nature and incompleteness. In every book To mans need for redemption of sins. In every book It points towards one person who can satisfy the penality for mans fallen state and forgiveness of sins.
That person is Christ Jesus. Who is this Jesus? I can tell you but only the Spirit can reveal it. There is only one God, and he has never left his throne. There is Christ Jesus and he is purely God. He left this position in heaven to fulfill the requirements for redemption and ascended, by his own power, back to heaven/ his place/his thrown. There is the Holy Spirit, purely God, who is in this world today, to convict man of sins and reveal Christ Jesus as the sacrifice and savior for man.
The Bible points to only one way to attain/get/find/have this salvation and that is repenting/turning around/changing your mind about who this Christ Jesus is and believing he is God. Trusting in him and HIS work as satisfaction for the penalty for sin.
There is a lot more which can be said. There are two books in the Bible that I may point you too. The book of John and the book of Hebrews. It will take you about an hour to read both.
If the holy Spirit has moved/stirred you from this reading ask The lord to save you, confess Christ Jesus as lord and God.
Blessings
