Zastva M85
« on: February 12, 2014, 01:31:03 PM »
I have really caught the fever for a Zastava M85 in 7.62x39. Wondering if anyone has one or has had one in the past. I don't NEED one at all but WANT often overcomes need when it involves me and rifles. Anyone have any experience with one of these mini mausers?

I had one of those feelings and finally gave in and bought one. It was a real nice rifle but only had average accuracy with anything I put through it. I ran the gamut with it, jacketed bullets, cast bullets, free floating the barrel, adding a pressure point, crown job, bedding the action etc. etc. without any better groups so I had it turned into a 6.5 Grendel and man is that thing ever accurate, I really love it now.

They have caught my as well. Wish I had bought one some years ago when they were imported by Remington as the 799, Cabelas had them for $279.99 IIRC. Think I'm going to wind up with a CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62x39 instead.
