I am glad to see its shooting well for you Dinny!!

One thing I see that caused problems for many folks, The front ''post'' in that ultra base. You may want to loosen the set screws and lift it so the base floats, then re tighten.

CW,
  I used a caliper to measure the movement of the base as I tightened the screw down on top of the barrel. I made sure it maintained zero upward movement. I plan to shoot it all the way out to 300yds before I start shooting at any hogs that far away. I saw 4 more this evening, but they saw me too. No shot. :(

Im wondering about that 100yd. MRT with the 200yd. -0-, how does that compare with the ballistics tables for the projectile weight and velo you are at?

Yesterday morning I zeroed at 25yds and shot at 100yds. The rise was almost 5". Last night I shot at 175yds and was only 1" high. That leads me to believe I'm sighted for a 200yd zero. Last night's range allows me to shoot all the way to 400yds. I will eventually get out that far and develop my own table.

I've been reading a lot of Bryan Litz's writings and think perhaps the calculators are off somewhat due to an absence of input. Ie: powder temp, elevation, baro pressure, etc. I also plan to run my scope and rifle through a CATS target to check the tracking and repeatability.

I guess Id be expecting a bullet with that BC and 2500ish-fps to have a mid-range traj. at 100yd. of about +2.6".......but then that would be above the line of sight, so through a scope at the std. 1.5"above bore plus the 2.6" MR gives you the 4.1"?

I would guess that too with one reservation. Since the sight height is already calculated, I wouldn't think I need to re-calculate it myself. ???

I dont do those new-fangled calc. thingies, just use the old std, that for a similar given BC, regardless of caliber, and similar velocity, projectiles will have similar trajectory; then look it up in my old Hornady reloading manual tables.
After that its shoot 'em and verify, which is what we really want to know anyway, regardless of the data-bank.
For me, Id likely reduce the extreme -0- to where Id have a +1.5 - 2" real midrange to a -1.5 - 2" on out there where ever and work on making good groups and range estimation. After messing about with my 45-70 yours would seem like a laser. At about the velo's you are looking at it is similar to the old 6.5 MS which has had a great reputation in the field, so do not despair.

No disparity here. I spent an hour last night trying to increase the latch engagement (barrel would pop open when it fired). Once I finished filing, I smoked the shelf again and it appeared about the same. But then I had a loose barrel fit so I shimmed it. Cleaned it up tonight and the engagement still seems the same, but at least now it's tight again. :-\ More shooting tomorrow. :)

The accuracy fell out the bottom after my recent tinkering. I tried to zero again at 25yds and all I could do was 1" groups. I think I shot 25 rounds to get to that point. Now I'm worried about the latch. I may have not filed it correctly. :-\
