Pickup truck AND one of these
« on: June 17, 2013, 01:04:42 PM »
I was thinking about the small truck thread and ran across this. My mother lives in Bossier, outside Shreveport. Next time I'm down there, maybe I'll go by and check out one of these. If they really sell for that, I could get one AND a small pickup. Reminds me of an old Morgan, or a T-Rex. (Though a T-Rex costs about 10 x more!) Heck, it's even cheaper (and gets better mileage than those Can Am Spyder motorcycles...

I question driving on packed snow or loose gravel or sandy roads, even wet roads might be treacherous. My Toyota Camry will scare the kr@2 out of you on a gravel road. The handling of a Can Am might be comparative. I have seen about half as many Can Ams sitting wrecked as I have seen on the highway. ear

I don't know... you're on top of the Spyder, and the reverse trike configuration is a lot more stable than a traditional trike. With the Elio, you're inside--- with airbags. My step son slid off the road in Kentucky in his Toyota MR2 when he hit a patch of cornstalks in the road--- fortunately he had slowed for the sharp curve, so was only going 35 or so. An unsafe surface is not good no matter what you're in--- or on. I'd still like to try it. Can't beat the price!

Lack of contact patch and weight on the rear end is what I see as trouble. ABS doesn't help when you are going sideways or backwards. I would like to know more for sure. ear

I'm too big to fit inside one of those little cars (6'3", 280#) and if I got on that spider, I think I would look like a monkey on a coconut...one has to at least "look cool" when on any kind of motorcycle, else what's the point? lol

in your teeth in one of those?  It looks like a cockroach lol.

Ummm yeah, and the ice and snow and cold rain, too....Seriously, if I could do 700+ miles in that thing and not have to drink a 6 pack to come down from the trip then I might consider it a nice personal little contraption__ie. if  lady late for work,  putting on makeup, texting, and drinking coffee doesn't do a left turn right in front of me..... ;) ;D ;) ;D

Ice, snow and cold rain that's half the fun of it. Really cool leathers that make you look like a black
knight. Helmets so advanced its like your head and your senses are in luxury with music.
Heads up displays that wifi interface with your bike. Kevlar crash protection woven into the leather
backing. Cellular cooling fabrics ran by a module that can heat as well.
And my bike has more than enough power to get me out of a bad situation, or get me into one.
And I'm not attached to it if I ever have to lay it down. This thing is like being sealed in a beer can.
Other than a bike give me an F150. With my bike I am on the cutting edge of crash and
environmental technology in what I suit up as. With this insect, well I guess you will get what you
pay for.
