Bigfoot movie?
« on: February 22, 2004, 01:13:23 PM »
In either 1971 or 1972 (I was around 6 years old) my dad took me to a bigfoot movie that made a big impression on me, no pun intended.  The movie ended, I think, with a scene where some guys were going off on a hunt for bigfoot on one of those 6 or 8 wheel ATVs/amphibians of the time.  As I recall, the movie was in kind of a documentary style.  I would love to see it again.  I had nightmares for years after I saw it even though it wasn't meant to be a scary movie (I think).

Has anyone else seen this movie?  Let me know the name of it if you have.
Thanks

"The Legend of Boggy Creek" maybe? I saw that one when it first came out and just got a DVD of it in Wal-Mart's $5 bargain bin. Haven't looked at the DVD yet.
On the 19th of April, 1775, a tyrannical government sent an army to disarm its citizens. They ran into a touch of trouble.

Mauser,
In the movie was there a part where these loggers were in thier cabin and from a ridge above the cabin a Bigfoot started throwing big rocks down on the cabin? I saw this movie as a kid,I think it was around 77-78 and I think the movie was named Sasquatch. It was like a documentory as well :D

  Hi Mauser :D
Could it have been ( Return to Boggy Creek)? You can go to the horror flicks, and type in the name (Charles Pierce), he directed alot of these movies, and documentarys, of Bigfoot and other scary movies.
Good luck finding it. :D

P.S. go to GCBRO . thats a Bigfoot site, and talk or e-mail Bobby Hamilton, he is the moderator to the site. and he can tell you what it was called, and probably have the tape there to sell you. He has quite a collection of the hairy monster tapes of different stories. :D

I looked on the rotten tomatos site and it listed "curse of Bigfoot" as a 1963 movie.

I decided to order "legend of Boggy Creek" and see if it is the movie I saw.  At the very least, I'll be able to warp my kids about walking in the northern Wisconsin woods at night like I was as a kid.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Mauser :D
I hope you get it in DVD, cause I got both VHS and DVD, of the same move (legend of Boggy Creek), and the DVD, is a lot better, that is the film is not so dark and you can see it a lot clearer. Its one of my favorite bigfoot flicks.

I watched "The Legend of Boggy Creek" last night (I got it on EBAY).  It wasn't the movie I saw in 71 or 72 but I think I saw it on TV or in a theater in the mid 70s.  The movie has a real Disney film feel to it.  My kids didn't find it scary at all.

One thing in the movie did stand out however:  Things sure were a lot simpler years ago.
