Lets see if this pic works. It is a mouflon type ram I shot at Rocky TOp Ranch right after Christmas.

Mark in the first post you had highlighted too much. Your name was included along with the url and mess it up. I fixed it so photo will show. In the second you that's not a photo url but a PM from Kevin's site. Dunno what happen there but it isn't an image URL.

It was a good shot! That view looks more like a Corsican. What are you doing with it, the meat, a scull mount?

Thanks GB, I am such a goof, somehow I put in a link to a PM I had received from a guy at Kevins hog hunting site. I tried to fix it, but am too computer challanged to get it done. I don't think it was a snake in the picture but it didn''t appear in the other pic when I had the ram on his other side. Hmmm??

Hey Tom I think the ram was certainly a mix of some type, but the guy doing the guiding for Thompson that weekend called it a mouflon type ram. Well, the back strap was smoked over some mesquite/oak and was quite tasty. The head is gonna make a decent shoulder mount I think. It is still wrapped up and in the freezer. I gotta do something soon, as the wife wants the freezer space back. It had a really beautiful hide, much more red than the pic shows. I might jsut tan the hide and do a skull mount.

Wal Mark, I took another look and cropped out all but what I am sure is a rattlesnake. I blowed it up and I'm sure I can clearly see the head and tail and ain't no stick ever looked like this. What ya think now?

Pretty amazing. The "skin" coloring is more like a stick, but its got a sort of head. If I was there, I'd throw a rock at it, before I picked up the pistol to make sure.

I swear if there had been a snake there I would a seen it moving. But when I look at the picture it makes me nervous. LOL I hate snakes, atleast ones with fangs. I still think it was a stick, but in the other pics of the ram in that same spot, I don't see the stick. I did flip the ram over for a different picture and don't recall a snake being there. But it doesn't show up in the picture either.

I've played around with your original image quite a bit and I'm convinced it is a snake. What kind I can't say for sure. BUT I can blow it up enough to clearly see a head that looks like a pit viper head. It turns upward in the photo just past where it appears to almost disappear. The body is basically straight until you get back to the tail area where it is twisted some. Just no way a stick would grow the way that thing is laying. You had a snake of that I'm certain.
